IN FOSTER

Sometimes they look like a quiet cat named Moozer who keeps going, even when life keeps throwing obstacles in his path.

When Moozer first arrived in our care, he was understandably nervous. Everything around him was new, unfamiliar, and a little scary. But day by day, he started to settle in. He began learning that people could be kind, that meals arrived regularly, and that he was finally safe.

Then something changed.

Moozer began to decline. He stopped eating. He stopped drinking. Multiple veterinary visits left everyone searching for answers, but nothing obvious seemed to explain why he was feeling so poorly. We knew something wasn’t right, we just hadn’t found it yet.

Then one day, the mystery revealed itself.

A severe swelling appeared in Moozer’s cheek, uncovering a deeply hidden abscess buried within the tissues of his face. At last, there was an answer. More importantly, there was a way to help.

Once the abscess was treated, the transformation was almost immediate. Moozer began feeling better. He started showing interest in food again. His spark began to return. The cat we’d been fighting so hard to help was finally getting the chance to heal.

Today, Moozer is recovering in foster care, where his biggest job is focusing on himself. He’s enjoying good meals, rebuilding his strength, putting healthy weight back on his frame, and continuing his journey toward becoming the happy, healthy cat he was always meant to be.

He’s not quite ready for adoption yet, but we know his day is coming.

Moozer has already shown us just how resilient he is. Through discomfort, uncertainty, and months of feeling unwell, he never stopped trying. Now that he’s finally on the road to recovery, we can’t wait to watch him continue to flourish.

His future family may not know it yet, but somewhere out there is a home that’s going to be incredibly lucky to call Moozer their own.

Note, the adoption fee for a pet adoption from the Pembina Valley Humane Society includes their spay/neuter surgery, age appropriate vaccines and boosters, and a post-adoption exam at a local clinic.
