The Power of Animals

Animals come with some powerful health benefits.  They can help relieve depression or anxiety, lower stress, and improve your heart health!

Companion animals have actually evolved to become attuned to humans and our behaviours and emotions.  Dogs, for example, are able to understand many of the words we use, but they’re even better at gauging our tone of voice, body language, and gestures.  And like any good human friend, a dog can look into your eyes and try to understand what you’re thinking or feeling.

Take a Mental Health Break

Working hard to meet a deadline?  Dealing with a lot of customers and just need time to unwind?  Prepping for an important exam?   Book a mental health break with one of the animals in our care!  We can bring the animal to your workplace or school and let your team interact with it, helping blow off some much needed steam.  And it’s great for our dogs too!  There is no cost to this, although a donation to the shelter is greatly appreciated.

Pet Therapy

Pet therapy for seniors is beneficial in many ways.  Many of the benefits stem from the fact that animals make good companions.  Apart from friendship, pets can also improve a senior’s self-esteem and encourage social interaction.  Seniors often tend to feel more comfortable around animals.  If you are interested in having an animal visit your seniors’ residence or community organization, please reach out to us: (204) 822-9413
