Be a Tree
We are truly enthusiastic to be teaching everyone, especially children, the importance of how to stay safe around dogs. Our newly-launched “Be A Tree” program is a dog bite prevention program for school-age children. The goal of the program is to train children how to safely interact with dogs in order to prevent bites and other unsafe situations.
This program includes fun and interactive activities to help children understand dog body language, and how to act safely around both strange, unknown dogs and their own family dog.
If you’re an educator interested in having us bring the Be A Tree program to your classroom, please call us at 204.822.9413 or email jennifer@pvhsociety.ca
School Visits
One of the core values of the PVHS is to provide educational resources to our community. Within this, we recognize the importance of supporting the education of our young people in the Pembina Valley. Through our school visits, PVHS staff work with teachers to increase understanding of animal care and welfare as well as safety around animals. If you are interested in having the PVHS come visit your classroom, please reach out to our staff and we will be happy to arrange a time to connect.

The PVHS is located on the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
