Freyja

Freyja has now been with us for 8 months! Her life has been filled with hardship, having bounced between homes and shelters for half of her life. Previously residing in another shelter for an extended period, it’s no surprise that the long stays in shelters have taken a toll on Freyja’s mental well-being. Seeing her beautiful face every day as she waits to leave her kennel is heartbreaking.

 

Spending so much time in a shelter has brought on challenges for Freyja, which means she needs an adopter that will be patient with her and help her work on some of the poor manners that she has developed. She does has made progress and is an incredibly smart dog, having mastered sit, stay, and lay down, when she’s not too excited to listen.

 

Freyja is especially looking for a cat-free home. She doesn’t have much experience with other dogs and has a very forward play style. She’s made progress at the shelter with her jumping, but since we can’t meet her exercise needs here she is often very energetic. She walks well on a harness, is a great listener and loves toys…that being said, it’s best for Freyja not to be left with stuffy toys unsupervised, as she’s been known to become too excited and eat them in the destruction process!

 

Although not a big cuddler, Freyja loves attention and will ask for pets once she develops a bond with her people.

 

With a dedicated adopter or foster, we’re confident she will make great progress and become an even more wonderful companion!
