Nana

IN SHELTER – ACCEPTING PRE-APPLICATIONS

When Nana came to us, she was in truly heartbreaking condition. She was severely underweight, and the inside of her mouth, gums, and throat were so severely ulcerated and deteriorated that she was struggling just to breathe. She was incredibly uncomfortable and desperately needed help.

So we tucked this tiny girl into an incubator, surrounded her with warmth and care, and started the long process of getting her strong enough for surgery. After some time on intensive medication and plenty of TLC, Nana was finally healthy enough to undergo a full dental procedure.

Unfortunately, there simply weren’t any teeth we could save.

So Nana said “to heck with teeth!” and embraced her new life as the sweetest little gummy cat you’ve ever met.

Nana has adapted beautifully to life without teeth. She eats well, enjoys her meals, and apparently hasn’t let a complete lack of chompers stop her from occasionally stealing her roommates’ kibble. Priorities, after all.

She also has the most adorable little quirk: her tongue tends to peek out just a tiny bit, giving her a permanently precious, slightly derpy expression. We absolutely adore it and once you meet her, we’re pretty sure you will too.

Personality-wise, Nana is simply wonderful. She’s incredibly affectionate, gentle, and kind, and she seems to have decided that humans are pretty fantastic afterall. She gets along well with other cats and has been so far unbothered by cat-savvy dogs, making her a lovely little companion for a variety of homes.

After everything this sweet girl has endured, you’d expect her to be cautious or guarded. Instead, Nana is generous with her affection and seems determined to make up for all the love she missed out on before she was rescued.

She’s proof that sometimes the cats who have been through the most have the biggest hearts.
