As Thanksgiving weekend arrives, here are a few handy homemade pumpkin dog treats for your dogs.

Pumpkin and Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits:

Ingredients:

1 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling)

2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2 cup peanut butter (unsalted and unsweetened)

1/4 cup water (adjust as needed for dough consistency)

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin, peanut butter, and water. Mix until well blended.

Gradually add the whole wheat flour, mixing until a dough forms. You may need to adjust the amount of flour or water to achieve the right consistency.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness.

Use cookie cutters to create shapes and place the treats on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the treats are golden brown.

Allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your dog.

Pumpkin and Oat Dog Cookies:

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup canned pumpkin

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup water

1 egg

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, mix together the rolled oats, canned pumpkin, applesauce, water, and egg until well combined.

Drop a spoon full of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.

Flatten each cookie slightly with the back of a fork.

Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until the cookies are firm and golden.

Let the cookies cool completely before giving them to your pup.

Pumpkin and Banana Dog Bites:

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana

1/2 cup canned pumpkin

1 cup oat flour (you can make your own by blending rolled oats)

1/4 cup coconut flour

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe banana.

Add the canned pumpkin, oat flour, and coconut flour. Mix until a dough forms.

Roll the dough into small balls or shape them into bite-sized treats.

Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the treats are slightly golden.

Allow them to cool before offering them to your dog.

Remember to store these homemade dog treats in an airtight container to keep them fresh. Always consider your dog’s dietary needs and any allergies when introducing new treats into their diet. It’s also a good idea to consult with your veterinarian if you have any concerns about your dog’s nutrition or specific dietary requirements.

We wish you and your pup a Happy Thanksgiving!
