July 18 is National Ice Cream Day; a perfect summer treat on a hot day. While the occasional small amount of vanilla ice cream is probably okay for your dog, it shouldn’t be a regular treat for them as adult dogs don’t really have the stomach to handle lactose.
Here are a few of our favourite dog-friendly “ice cream” treats that you can make at home!
PEANUT BUTTER BANANA from Dog Tipper
- 3-4 ripe bananas, peeled
 - 32 ounces plain yogurt, low-fat
 - 1 cup peanut butter, organic
 
- Add bananas, peanut butter, and yogurt to a blender.
 - Blend until thoroughly mixed.
 - Pour into ice cube tray and freeze.
 
COCONUT BLUEBERRY from Dog Milk
- 32 oz. unsweetened coconut milk
 - 3/4 cup fresh, washed blueberries
 - 1/4 cup raw honey
 
- Add all ingredients to a blender.
 - Blend until thoroughly mixed.
 - Pour into ice cube tray and freeze.
 
CAROB CHIP from The Dogington Post
- 12 oz. low-fat, plain yogurt
 - 1/3 cup carob chips
 - 1 tablespoon raw honey
 
- Add all ingredients to a blender.
 - Blend until thoroughly mixed.
 - Pour into ice cube tray and freeze.
