Maxx
The little pup who can make any heart grow three sizes!
Sharing the name with the loyal pup from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Maxx shares only the best traits of his famous namesake: he’s gentle, loving, goofy in the most heart-melting way, and loyal enough to follow his person up a snowy mountain… or at least to the kitchen for snacks. He is the definition of a good boy — the kind of pup who doesn’t need a holiday miracle to make your heart grow, because he does it naturally just by being himself.
Maxx is very well-rounded and loves just about everyone. He gets along great with dogs and cats, and while he has only lived with dogs his own size so far, he’s such a social butterfly that we’re confident he’ll make friends with bigger pups too once he has had time to get to know them at his own pace. He’s also a pretty big fan of kids and would happily accept every treat, cuddle, nap buddy, and sticky snack-covered hug they have to offer.
Like most dogs who haven’t always had the easiest start, Maxx is learning the art of confidence in his foster home. He arrived with a bit of separation anxiety, but every single day in foster care he’s getting braver and more self-assured. He’s discovering that his people always come back and belly rubs are not a limited resource! Along with that emotional progress, Maxx is also improving dramatically in the house-training department. His former…enthusiastic marking hobby has decreased significantly now that he’s neutered and settled into routine, and he’s showing every sign of becoming a clean, well-mannered gentleman in no time.
Maxx’s ideal home is one filled with kindness, stability, and people who will laugh at his silly moments and celebrate his victories. He would love a canine or feline friend to spend his days with, or humans who are home more often than not while he continues building confidence. With patience, love, and reassurance, Maxx will give back twice as much — because that’s the dog he is.
If you’re looking for a companion who is affectionate, gentle, great with other animals, and with kids, and just the right amount of goofy… Maxx is ready to be your best friend. In this story, you get to be the happy ending — and Maxx can’t wait to find his forever family, warm his spot on the couch, and make every day feel like a holiday morning.
Note, the adoption fee for a pet adopted from the Pembina Valley Humane Society includes their spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccines and boosters, and a post-adoption veterinary exam at a local clinic.
