Reese came into our care with an unexpected litter of puppies, making them affectionately known as “Reese and her Pieces”.  Here’s what her foster family has told us about their houseguests:
“Reese has been a very affectionate dog, who loves her people. She loves to cuddle and is always trying to weasel her head into my hand for some pets. She has been doing well with her foster canine sibling and will occasionally try to play with her, but more often than not will just do her own thing. Reese enjoys playing with toys…if you consider shredding them playing with them haha Fortunately this behaviour hasn’t been passed on to anything else in the home, just toys.”
Her foster says that while she is a sweet dog, she is very insecure which seems to result in some resource guarding…she is protective of her food, nervous about sharing her water dish, and tries to protect her foster family from the cats in the home.  We believe she would do well in a home with other pets provided her new family understands resource guarding and helps develop clear boundaries from the beginning.  The PVHS is here to help her new family with this and can offer support to make it a successful adoption!
Note, the adoption fee for a pet adopted from the Pembina Valley Humane Society includes their spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccines and boosters, and a post-adoption veterinary exam at a local clinic.
