Fennec is a medium sized, mysterious floof with the best side-eye we’ve ever seen, and the bravery of a mouse. She’s timid. She’s terrified. She’s been singled out (repeatedly) and victimized by the wind, her shadow, plastic bags, ceiling fans, doors, floors, curtains and when you meet her…you too. She will fight back against anything soft and pliable though; she’s a front-runner on the war against stuffed animals, shoes, and some sofas. But underneath all that fear, fluff and anxiousness is a very good girl just waiting to trust you… eventually… maybe…if the universe wills it and you have the really good snacks.

We estimate that Fennec is about a year old, and while she isn’t what you’d typically classify as “brave,” she is loyal once that bond has been made. She really shines around male dogs (of all sizes!) who understand that ladies can be particular. A gentleman is a gentleman in every shape and size! Female dogs though, hard pass. Fennec’s not into all that girl drama. This little lady would do really well in a quiet, super patient, adult-only home or one with older, very gentle, dog-savvy kids.

Also worth noting: Fennec is a top tier escape artist. Houdini has nothing on this little frightened nugget. One time she orchestrated a jailbreak that led to a city-wide manhunt. She’s clever, fast, distracted, and has no time or interest in listening to her name when there’s so much to do out on her own! So her future family must have a very secure yard (it’s giving Fort Knox) GPS tags, and a deep appreciation for hide-and-seek.

In return for all that, she offers soft ears, slow blinking trust, the pure joy of watching a scared dog become brave and confident, and an adventure you’ll never stop living (see: city-wide manhunt).

Fennec has the potential to be someone’s heart dog. You just have to earn it—and that makes it all the more special.
